Report: Gazprom can cancel deal with Moldova over debt audit
CHISINAU, Feb 17 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom can refuse to accept results of Moldovagaz’ debt audit and terminate its contract with the company, Infrastructure Minister of Moldova Andrei Spinu told channel Jurnal TV on Thursday.
"Is there a risk that Gazprom will not accept results of the audit?” Spinu said.
“Gazprom has sent its proposals on the terms of the audit to us, but we, unfortunately, could not include all of them, because we want a deep public audit, not mere accounting. There is a risk that this will prompt Gazprom to cancel the existing contract."
Gazprom and Moldovagaz prolonged their long-term gas supply contract for 5 years in October after protracted negotiations. Gazprom said then it agreed to almost all Moldova’s conditions taking into account the situation in the country, but insisted that Chisinau make current payments in full and on time.
